Ordered this as a gift for my wife. I've got a decent bit of experience with fly rods,and while this isn't the same rod as a $200+ higher end model...It certainly is decent enough to get someone in the game. There's enough flex to be able to feel it load and learn the basics, but still stiff enough to fight a decent fish. I couldn't be happier,and neither could she.
