Originating from the mist-shrouded mountain passes of Japan and hailed for its elegant simplicity, Tenkara fly fishing is a unique form of fly fishing that uses ultra-light, reel-less rods to the conquer small, fast-moving mountain streams that epitomize Japan's breathtaking natural landscape.

Originally hand-carved from lightweight yet durable bamboo, today's Tenkara fly rods are instead make from carbon fiber, a strong yet light material that near-perfectly replicates the lightweight simplicity of the bamboo originals.

Here at Maxcatch, each of our Tenkara rods are handmade from super lightweight IM10/30T+40T Japanese Toray carbon fiber with a Helical core, ensuring optimal performance with each cast. Each rod also comes with a AAA cork-grip handle as well as a carbon rod tube.
