While there are always aspects that can be criticized, I found the overall package to be a very good deal. I have been fly fishing for over 50 years and this combo fits into my collection of some 16 various flyrods of various weights and lengths quite well. Yes I own some more expensive rods but do not necessarily want to role them out every time I head out to some local spot (for I am a fly fishing addict and can only go a month or so without going out somewhere). The package is well balanced and casts well. I have not caught any big fish with it yet, but it handled well for small stockers in the 9 to 12 inch length. I refer to it as one of my utility rods and I love it!

I go backpacking a lot so this fishing rod is great for me. Not the fanciest fly rod you will ever see but if you know how to fish, it works great. It also has only 4 pieces which makes assembly quick and easy as far as backpacking rods go. As much as the rod, I love the case it comes in. I am able to squeeze a small spinning rod inside with the fly rod when I am heading into the back country which makes consolidating my fishing equipment easier. The small compartment on the bottom can fit the fly reel as well as 2 small 
tackle boxes. I put one small box of flies and one small box with conventional tackle in there and I am set for a whole backpacking trip. I just have to squeeze a small spinning reel somewhere else in my pack in my pack. I loved this purchase and continue to have one satisfying use after another. I have also caught a lot of fish!
